Burglary and Theft Investigations
The Logan County Sheriffs’ Department have received numerous reports of theft of firearms from vehicles, burglary of buildings, and theft of trailers, power equipment, four-wheelers, and tools from several areas of Logan County in late September to mid October. It is believed that multiple persons or groups are committing these thefts. Thefts from areas of US 79 South in Olmstead, US 431 North In Stuart Smotherman area, US 431 South near Adairville, KY 79 North and the Duncan Chapel area of Auburn, have been targeted in recent weeks. One church was burglarized resulting in the loss of computer monitor, hard-drive and printer in an area off KY 79 North. Several firearms, power-tools, and $700.00 in coinage was taken in five theft cases in the Olmstead area.


The Logan County Sheriffs Department ask our citizens to report suspicious vehicles or persons around their neighborhoods by calling the Emergency Operations center at 726-4911 and report the activity. Get a vehicle description and if possible a license plate number and call it in and let our Deputy’s check it out.

We need everyone’s assistance to provide more safe and secure neighborhoods in Logan County.

Burglary
Logan Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating the burglary of B&J Auto Sales in Auburn that occurred on Sunday October 17, 2004. Entry into the office area was gained by the breaking of a window. After entering the building, the perpetrators forced open a cabinet which contained currency and a handgun that was stolen in the burglary.


It is believed that the alarm system activated and the audible alarm sounded for a considerable amount of time and may have alerted someone who can furnish information.

Logan County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating the theft of a concrete Angel Bench from a gravesite at the Dripping Springs Cemetery on Watermelon Road. This theft occurred between August 2nd and August 8th 2004.

Deputies found the rear door of the residence forced open at the Lonnie Coursey residence and a total of seven weapon stolen in the burglary. Six of the weapons were long guns, including shotgun and rifles, and one revolver was stolen. This burglary and theft occurred on Monday 08-09-2004 between noon and 3:00 pm. Anyone seeing any suspicious activity or vehicles around this area of Spa Road is encouraged to report it to the Logan County Sheriff's Office, or CrimeStoppers.

Logan County Sheriff’s Department Case 04-019
The Logan County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a Second Degree Burglary and Theft that occurred January 26, 2004 in the Halls Store Road community about 5:30 PM on Monday.

Two white females went to a Halls Store Road residence attempting to sell rugs. They were persistent in their attempts to enter the residence to talk to the elderly resident. Once inside, one asked for a drink of water gaining the attention of the resident allowing the other the opportunity to locate and seize the resident’s purse taking it from the residence. Perpetrator one was described as about 5’6” with black curly hair and perpetrator two was described as heavy set with lighter hair. A light colored vehicle was described to be used by the two.

They are also alleged to have attempted to gain entry at residence(s) in Adairville, without success.

Russellville Police Department Cases 2004-01942 - 2004-02120 - 2004-02140
The Russellville Police is investigating recent burglaries including Stefany’s Salon Essentials on East Fourth Street, the Tobacco Patch on North Main and a residential garage on East 2nd Street.

The burglary of Stefany’s occurred on Wednesday night or early Thursday morning 01-21/22-04. The business cash register and a small quantity of jewelry was stolen in the burglary.

The burglary of the Tobacco Patch occurred shortly after midnight on Saturday 01-24-2004. Entry was gained by breaking of the glass front door and a cash register was stolen in the burglary.

The burglary of the residential garage resulted in a large quantity of expensive fishing equipment including rods, reels, and tackle being stolen as well as some tools
